Does the New Testament distort actual events so as to blame the Jews for Christ's death?

  • "Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it up again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my father" (John 10:17,18) Jesus settled the question forever. The truth of the matter is that we are all responsible for His death. As said it Isaiah 53:6, ...and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." Again in Isaiah 53:10 we read, "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him..." Many want to place all of the responsibility for Christ's death on the Jews; others want to absolve them of any responsibility whatsoever. God laid our sins upon him that his death might atone for our sins. Therefore anyone who has sinned is responsible. That means the entire world, Jew and gentile.

  • As for claims of distorted events and so-called contradictions, they are fabricated. A careful study of the Gospels will reveal that what seems like a contradiction actually reveals amazing details of particular events. This has always been God's way. If you don't believe it just figure out if who was the father-in-law of Moses. Was it Jethro (Ex. 3:1), Raguel (Num 10:29), or Hobab (Judges 4:11)? Is there a contradiction? Not on your life. Study it out. By the way, how did King Saul die? (I Sam. 31;3-5 II Sam 1:6-10)

Why did Jesus say that Jews are children of the devil and the synagogue of Satan?

    • Please read Matthew 15:21-28 Jesus was approached by a gentile woman making her requests known. He said that he was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then he said that it was not meet to take food from the children (Israel) and cast it to the dogs (gentiles). Can you believe that?

      • Anytime Jesus pronounced woe upon the Jews he did so after the manner of God in the Old Testament. In John 8:44 told a group of Jews that they were the children of the devil. Was this a declaration that all Jews are the children of Satan? No way. Jesus had expounded the Scriptures and had shown them how they had erred from the sacred writings. They continued to justify their actions by standing behind their Jewish culture. This is when he said that they were of the devil. Not because they were Jewish but because they followed the vain traditions of their fathers rather than following the Scriptures. Is this characteristic of the God of the Israel? Yes sir. The Holy One of Israel acted in like manner in Isaiah 30: 9-14. So who are the children of Satan? Anyone who rebels against the truth of the Word of God and will not adhere to the light they have been given. That goes for Jew and gentile alike.

        • "The synagogue of Satan" is actually a term used for people who claim to be Jewish and are not. Many groups claim to be descendents of the lost tribes of Israel. It is a special thing to be Jewish, the apple of God's eye. In Revelation 2:9, 3:9, there is a very harsh rebuke for claiming to be one of God's chosen people Israel if you are not. This should be a favorite section of the New Testament among Jews. What a privilege to think that God would put a curse on people for trying to include themselves among this special people!
